Our Story
I can still smell the charcoal getting hot, the FM radio playing country music and my parents casually cracking open a beer to kick off another weekend. Almost every Friday evening John, my dad, would show me how to prepare the BBQ grill. Meanwhile my mom, Ronda, was off shopping for a ridiculously long list of spices, fresh herbs, and whatever primal meat Dad had set his heart on (usually pork ribs).
My dad’s “bone of contention” was always the baby back pork rib; he could never get the flavor just right. The rubs he created had too much sugar, or he wished he left out more salt; the list goes on. The family rub was always a constant work in progress; John was always chasing perfection. Our family and friends never knew the difference. Dad continued to be the alchemist, while we were just anxious for our favorite meal of the week!
20 years later, I find a family treasure in my father’s cookbook on the back of an old grocery list. It was the infamous rub recipe! Now full circle, it’s the start of a new weekend and I’m the one BBQing with my Dad supervising. The family’s in the yard playing games, we’re jamming music, while Dad and I have a beer in hand; life is good!

Jennifer Carlsson has a strong passion for all things food. From the beginning, working multiple roles in various restaurants, to becoming a chef aboard private yachts, her love for food has been a driving force in her growing career. While her core belief has always been that customer satisfaction is top priority, and offering bold flavors is a must, traveling has given Jennifer an even broader outlook on food trends internationally. Prior to her current role, she transitioned into a Culinary Specialist for a renowned French bakery manufacturer, bringing french products into the US market and consistently managed distribution channels.
In 2022, Jennifer was brought on with Eat Just to expand the Mid-Atlantic market in the plant-based industry, presenting to customers and sharing the story of JUST Egg.
